It could be said that Ciao Italia shares many of the characteristics of a true Italian family: it has many members, it appreciates good food and wine and it values all things Italian. Yet while Italy is renowned for its famous families, Ciao Italia is certainly one family that you won't regret becoming involved with! Ciao Italia is a non-profit making organisation which has been uniting Italian Restaurateurs around the world, since it was established in Rome in 1982.

The basic belief of the founder was that Italian restaurants abroad should act as true Italian ambassadors, providing a traditional warm hospitality and delicious cuisine using authentic products. The need for a link between Italian proprietors overseas was considered, along with the impact of these restaurants on Italian exports and for these reasons Ciao Italia G.B. was formed in 1984 with the following objectives:
  • To promote Italian cuisine by using only genuine Italian ingredients and products.
  • To raise awareness of "all things Italian".
  • To resolve the problems of its members concerning the hotel and restaurant trade in Great Britain.
  • To promote the hotel and restaurant trade as a sound and attractive career and to encourage a future workforce to train in this profession.
Ultimately, Ciao Italia as an organisation aims to be synonymous with all that is great about Italian cuisine and culture. In addition to offering members the chance to be associated with this strong Italian identity, members also benefit from a network of support and opportunities.
